June 20, 2017 – Day three of the 2017 World Championships of Beach Ultimate (WCBU) has wrapped in Royan, France!
The U.S. contingent saw its first loss today after falling in an 11-12 battle against Sweden in the mixed division. The U.S. pulled ahead early, jumping out to a 5-2 lead, but Sweden managed to tie the game at 6-6 and took the lead on the next point. They traded points through the remainder of the game, with Sweden hanging on for the double-game-point win. Overall, the seven U.S. teams still look strong through day three, combining for a 43-1 record.
The men’s masters division has moved on to crossover pools, with one game against the Czech Republic remaining for the U.S. team before competition moves into the quarterfinal round in bracket play. All other divisions continue in pool play to begin the day tomorrow before the mixed division moves into crossover games and the women’s division heads into power pools in the afternoon, local time.
