The World Flying Disc Federation’s (WFDF) World Under-24 Ultimate Championships is one of the international federation’s five world championship tournaments.
Every two years, the best college-age ultimate players from around the world square off in three competition divisions: men’s, mixed and women’s.
The next World Under-24 Ultimate Championships will be held January 7-13, 2018, in Perth, Australia.
Although the event will be held in 2018, it remains part of the 2017 world championships cycle. The next U-24 Championships will be held in 2019.
U-24, then called U-23, was first contested in 2010. The United States did not compete in the event until its second iteration, held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 2013.
The World Flying Disc Federation changed the name of the event to the U-24 Championships beginning in 2016 to improve clarity. Age restrictions did not change.
In the months leading up to the event, all age-eligible ultimate players may apply to be considered for the U-24 National Teams.
The teams’ coaches and USA Ultimate staff select up to 100 men and 100 women to attend one of two tryout camps. Following tryouts, final rosters for each of the men’s, mixed and women’s teams that will represent the United States are determined by the coaches and USA Ultimate staff.
